Grub control should be done sensitively in order to avoid the wrong treatment for your lawn with the perception of these insects eating up your lawn. Patches may be as a result of lack of proper fertilizer and ground stress and weather of the previous seasons. I can easily identify if my lawn has been affected by Scott Grub by the wondering birds mostly feeding on the lawn. A good indicator is when the when my lawn is patched and it has a stunted growth. Grubs usually increase in numbers because of the many eggs that are laid. They survive and hence can be a great danger to the home lawns. The best way to control them is by irrigating my lawn and maintaining a wet surface hence destroying the dry bleeding site and making the environment unconducive.
Grubs are immature larvae of a beetle. They usually feed on the roots of your lawn. It is easy to identify the area they have invaded because of the stunted growth, patched spaces and drying grass. Grub control for lawns is usually simple and I use insecticides and maintain irrigation as a way of doing away with them. The combination of the insecticide and watering my lawn helps in penetrating it down to reach the grubs and destroy their territory. It also provides a safe ground for children and pets.
Grub control and when to apply
Controlling grubs may not be effective right away because most insecticides need to offer the active ingredient. I have noted that already existing grubs may be hard to eliminate but it's simple to prevent others from joining the grass raid. Seasons differ and offer different levels of Grub growth and bleeding. Between October and May, it is hard to eliminate the existing grubs, however, starting June and July it offers a unique way of dealing with the next generation of grubs.
Dylox grub killer is the best to eliminate grubs at any given stage of their cycle. Despite grubs it also eliminates weevils. This insecticide penetrates up to half an inch to reach the hard to reach insects. Dylox reacts in a period of 24 hours and is the best to control grubs. The appropriate time to apply it is during spring and before fall when it is ripe to prevent grubs.
Natural grub control tends to be the cheapest way. It requires denying grubs the bleeding space. Grubs thrive well in humid soil. Moisture is the best combination of grubs growth. During summer I tend to let my lawn stay dry for some period. This halts the growth of grubs hence naturally eliminating them. A deep-rooted turf grass is also an advocate I would like people to go with. Having a deep root would mean there is no room for my lawn to dry completely. Even if I choose to water it once in a week it would halt their spread greatly.
